It is fantastic that Malcolm & Barbara: Love’s Farewell has been nominated for a Bafta Television award in the category of best single documentary.It is another important step toward bringing dementia out of the shadows and leading the fight against this devastating condition.The decision by Malcolm and Barbara Pointon to allow a camera to follow them from his diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease through to his final days was an extremely brave one.

10 Million US Baby Boomers Will Have Alzheimer’s, Report
A new report released today by the Alzheimer’s Association suggests that 10 million American baby boomers, that is one in every eight, will develop Alzheimer’s in their lifetime. The report also estimates that as many as 5.2 million people are living with Alzheimer’s in the United States, including up to 250,000 under the age of 65.
